Heathrow Short Stay Parking

Heathrow’s public short-stay car parks are built for a few hours at the kerb, not a holiday — and the barrier price is usually the dearest way through the airport. If you are away for a night or two, pre-booked Meet & Greet or on-airport parking is the practical short-stay alternative: you park for your actual dates, not an hourly tariff.

Match the product to Terminal 2, 3, 4 or 5 before you drive in. The terminals sit on different sides of the site, and the wrong car park can add a long transfer you did not budget for.

What short stay actually means at Heathrow

There is no single airport-wide “short stay” product on this comparison. In practice it means parking for a brief trip: overnight, a weekend, or a couple of days, with a short walk or a terminal-side handover rather than a long shuttle.

Independent Meet & Greet is usually the fastest for a short stay — drive to your terminal’s reception, hand the keys to an insured driver, and walk into check-in. Official on-airport parking sits inside the airport boundary and is the next closest option.

Do not follow signs for the public short-stay / drop-off loop unless that is the product on your confirmation. Your voucher names the reception or car park you actually booked.

Every terminal, same short-stay decision

Terminal 2 (the Queen’s Terminal) is mainly Star Alliance — Lufthansa, United, Air Canada and similar. Terminal 3 takes a large share of long-haul and oneworld carriers such as American and Cathay Pacific.

Terminal 4 sits apart from the main cluster. Its multi-storey car park closed on 23 June 2026; Meet & Greet and Terminal Parking for T4 now use Zone A of the Terminal 4 Park & Ride. Terminal 5 is British Airways’ home and the busiest of the four, so short-stay spaces go early around school holidays.

Heathrow charges vehicles that stop in the public terminal drop-off zones. If a Meet & Greet price looks unusually low, check whether that levy is already in the total shown at booking.

Is short stay the same as Heathrow’s official Short Stay car park?

Can I use public short stay if I have already booked?
